Vehicle Story
A build spanning several generations. My grandpa Harold ordered this 1964 Dodge Dart GT Golden Anniversary edition new for my grandma Alma in 1964 with a manual 4 speed transmission and a 273 ci. V8; it has remained in the family since (and has even been submerged in Flathead Lake, NW Montana at one point…). Fast forward 61 years to present day 2025, my dad Cris and I are retooling the family Dart into a road racer with license plates to compete in as many events together as possible with my late grandma and grandpa with us in spirit.
Build Specs (shorthand):
- Art Morrison custom spec front and rear frame clips, with double wishbone layout and extra narrow front rails for wide tire clearance, triangulated 4 link rear suspension narrowed for extra wide tires.
- Ford 9" rear axle housing with aluminum strange carrier.
- KMC engineered pushrod suspension with adjustable motion ratio rockers.
- Speedway Engineering adjustable splined sway bar with blade adjustable arms.
- Wilwood 14” AERO 6 piston front disc brakes and floating metric caliper rear brakes, BP30 compound race pads, Tru-Bar pedals with cabin mounted reservoirs and bias adjustment, separated rear hydraulic hand brake.
- 18”x11” front BC Forged TD01 wheels with 315/30zr18 tires, 18”x12” rear wheels with 335/30zr18 tires
- Bfgoodrich G-force Rival S tires
- KMC through-frame brake ducting with bespoke rotor hats, and 3d printed ducts
- GM Crate LS3 525HP mounted behind front wheel centerline (front mid-mounted)
- PWR Custom Spec. full cooling package
- Dodge Viper Tremec T56 six speed manual transmission.
- Roll cage with front/rear strut attachments, and 6-point harnesses
- Heat extraction ducting through hood
- Front bumper deleted with radiator air-ducting and road-race front sheet metal modifications. Hidden LED light bar behind grill.
